Entitled to compete in SAE EAST Aerodesign in the regular class in 2015

In 2013, the team reached second place in the SAE BRASIL Aerodesign competition. According to its regulations, the first two teams are entitled to participate in the world SAE Aero Design East 2014, and that's how the Urubus team won yet another challenge.

The good news arrived with the national competition in October, but after the celebration, the team members rolled up their sleeves and went back to work. With just a few months to develop the project, build prototypes, carry out tests and fly the plane, the Urubus team managed to complete all stages in record time! The students put aside their summer vacation and made an effort not to do poorly in their first international competition.

During the competition, the team came into contact with several American, Indian, Polish, Canadian, Mexican and Egyptian teams. Despite different languages and projects, they all had the same goal: to take home the coveted first place trophy.

The team expected to have a good performance, since it had a load to carry that was very competitive with the others. Some problems with the limiter prevented the plane from flying the second and third heats, resetting these two scores. In this competition, the score of each heat is added, and the ranking is based on the total, and not just on the heats with the highest score, as in the case of the Brazilian competition. Even so, the team was the fifth to carry the greatest load and was in sixth place overall.

Another Brazilian team that stood out was Uirá, from the Federal University of Itajubá, which was fourth overall and first in maximum paid load! The results of the teams that ranked even third for each category can be foundhere, and the ranking of teams in maximum paid load can be accessedhere🇧🇷
